Bixby BBQ & Blues Festival

We're headed to Oklahoma. May 15th we will be opening for Bobby Blue Bland on an evening billed as "Memphis Blues invades Oklahoma". Sounds like fun. It will also be an opening week-end for a new amphitheatre.

Last time I was in Tulsa, I met up with Narvel Blackstock. Who? Reba McEntire's husband, who was her road manager. I was there for an audition and I think it was 1984. I didn't get to meet Reba, yet what an experience!

Dani Practice

Practice has been productive. We are adding to our set list for the coming season. You'll be hearing from the likes of Shelby Lynne, Susan Tedeschi, Jonny Lang and more Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin. These are covers and yes we are adding originals as well. Our next show will be at Club Isaac Hayes on March 25th at 7:30. Last time we were there, they turned some people away due to the crowd size. So make plans and be there early. If you were there last time, leave me your thoughts so we can share them. We've got some exciting places to play in progress. I'll bring those up when finalized. We're looking forward to a great summer.

"Fried Glass Onions" write-ups

Inside Sounds compilation CD, "Fried Glass Onions", got a write-up in The Memphis Flyer. Even though Dani or the song "Old Brown Shoe" is not getting singled out, the CD itself is getting some attention.
"Memphis Meets the Beatles" was also mentioned in February's "Memphis Woman" magazine and January 25th edition of Ice Magazine. When you've got time, search "Fried Glass Onions" and scroll through, you'll find some interesting comments.

Band Weblogs

Go check out this new site for bands to list their weblinks and blogs. It's at www.bandweblogs.com. Some of these are pretty interesting and others are, well let's just say a "run on sentence". I recognize a couple musicians, remember Tony Levin; Who? Tony Levin, the bass player from King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. Oh yeah, that guy. He's on here.
I just signed up, so scroll on down and you'll see "Music Jock".

I'll try to remember my camera at practice tonight and bring you some candid moments.

Glass House

We did something out of the ordinary for me Friday night. Dear wife and I went to the Glass House on S. Main and listened to Bebop Broadcasting Network. Dave Kropf and Neal Bowen of BBN are playing as part of the jazz trio. Very enjoyable!
Hmm, could be a future site of a Dani acoustic show...

Korg CX3

Here it is! My new keys. It's got tons of preset sounds or I can go manual w/ the drawbars. I can turn the Leslie on and off, fast or slow. It acts and sounds like a Hammond B3, but more. I can add my other keyboard for another manual. You can make it larger with a click on the pic. It will be at the next show.
